Logan Farms Honey Glazed Hams & Market Café has a new store in the West University area in the Summit Square Shopping Center, 3277 Southwest Freeway between Edloe and Buffalo Speedway.

The new store is owned and operated by the Logan family and takes the place of a previous franchise-owned store in Rice Village that closed in January of 2012. Logan Farms West U. has been under construction since July and opened just in time for Thanksgiving.

“About 75 percent of our business takes place during Thanksgiving and Christmas,” says West U manager Jim Logan, the son of Logan Farms founder Pink Logan. “We sell our fully cooked, gourmet meats to both retail customers and corporate accounts. We are preparing literally thousands of hams and turkeys during this time of the year. It really is a tradition that we are very proud of. Our customers tell us all the time that it’s just not the holidays without a Logan Farms honey-glazed ham or smoked turkey to grace the table!”

Jim Logan has been working in his Dad’s Logan Farms stores since he was 11. His enthusiasm carried through his college years at Southwest Texas and beyond as he recruited friends, neighbors and his Pike fraternity brothers to man the Logan Farms registers each and every holiday season.

Logan Farms opened its first family-owned store in Houston in 1984, and Logan Farms franchises soon followed. The family still owns and operates its flagship store on Westheimer near the Beltway and its store in the Champions area on FM 1960 and is proud to welcome the new West U shop into the family fold. Logan Farms Honey Glazed Hams & Market Café franchised shops can be found throughout Louisiana and Mississippi and even the island of Guam.

“Of course our namesake and the most popular in our gourmet meat line is our spiral-sliced, honey-glazed ham” says Jim Logan. “The hams are carefully trimmed and are slowly dry-cured with a special low salt recipe. Then each ham is spiral sliced around the bone to give customers ready-to-serve, uniform slices. We prepare our honey glazed hams with our signature honey and spice glaze just hours before our customers come to pick them up. And Logan Farms has one of the leanest, low-salt, smoked hams on the market today. In fact, all of our gourmet meat recipes have been developed with attention to low fat and low salt andthis has been well received by our customers.”

The store also stocks home-style casseroles to compliment the selection of gourmet meats and can ship gift-boxed meats across town and across the country. A catering department can serve parties, office functions and company-wide events.

Holiday hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Lunch service is throughout the day Monday through Saturday. Call 713-520-5993 for more information or to place an order.
