Barry's Story
“Barry Washington worked in restaurants for much of his adult life while living in Philadelphia, but after experiencing a troubled youth, he turned to crime and drugs. This is a man who found redemption in the kindness of others after being stabbed 41 times and left for dead by a pair of drug dealers. His experience opened his eyes, and his path ultimately landed him in Louisville, becoming a pastor and opening his restaurant.”

-Kevin Gibson, Insider Louisville

Community Focused
Through his faith, and with the the help of others, Barry Washington was able to turn his life around. Now, he uses the opportunities he has to help others. He provides messages of hope, as well as, items needed at The Lord’s Kitchen and Corner of Hope Recovery Center. He also gives back to the West End Boys School. Four times a year (including his birthday and Thanksgiving), Washington shuts down his restaurant to serve the community free food. At Barry’s Cheesesteaks and More, he provides job opportunities for those in need, and gives them hope for a better future.
