The Founder, Luiz Penna, has enormous work experience in various fields of business. A former junior top tennis player in Brazil and the U.S., Luiz has worked in distribution, promotion, advertising, sales, and marketing management for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Philip Morris, Frito Lay, and Pepsi Cola.
With his branding experience, Luiz has been able to create, develop, and internationally expand a company that sells millions of pretzels worldwide. Driven by excellence and perseverance and after lengthy research into the snack industry, he has been able to create a pretzel concept that has thrived especially in industrialized and developing countries. With his drive and passion for the brand, the Company has established over 140 stores in 8 countries within the last 14 years.
The Mr. Pretzel®s product offering features a wide variety of pretzels baked on site. The most popular are the cinnamon sugar, original (salted), and the parmesan cheese pretzels. The tempting aroma draws shoppers from down the mall and around the corridor.
We began with our special Dutch recipe that originated in Pennsylvania, and spent years perfecting our products. Our pretzels contain no preservatives. Using only the finest quality natural and healthy ingredients, we prepare the dough moments before it is served. The pretzel-shaped dough is baked to a golden texture.
International Franchising: Mr. Pretzel®s currently offers franchising opportunities for individuals and companies that adopt the strategy of multi-unit territory development. This business model enables our partners to build the brand in their territory as well as leverage marketing and purchasing capacity. We require 100% of the first-year development to be funded through allotted capital and, at minimum, 30% of the next four years (development schedule is 5 years) to be accessible dedicated capital.
Profile of a Franchise Partner: Our goal is to select franchise partners who possess the right mix of expertise and enthusiasm, as well as the following characteristics:
- Solid business experience
- Multi-unit management
- Proven expertise in retail (food and beverage a plus)
- Previous franchise experience advantageous
- Net worth of US $100-250,000
- Initial capital investment of $100-250,000
- Liquid assets of US $75,000 (cash or cash equivalent)
- License Fee $ 20,000
- Royalty Fee 6% of Gross Sales Net of Taxes
- Local Advertising 2.5% to be spent by the Franchisee locally
SUPPORT SERVICES: OPERATION SUPPORT is dedicated to assisting you with every phase of store development: from initial layout through ongoing operations. Your Mr. Pretzel®s Consultant will be your direct liaison to our staff at Mr. Pretzel®s Support Center. Expect your Consultant to provide expert guidance on store construction, grand opening, building sales, optimizing profits, training, marketing, ongoing research and development, and more.
PURCHASING: We will assist you by providing advice and counsel on setting up your distribution systems, along with sharing the unique advantage of our purchasing programs for necessary equipment, furniture, fixtures, etc.
DEVELOPMENT: We offer plans for smooth, consistent development and construction for every store. Our development staff will assist you in the creation of a store layout that maximizes your building requirements, and will provide you with recommendations for decor and signage.
TRAINING: We offer extensive Store Training Programs that include a Mr. Pretzel®s overview, store opening procedures, service training, and training for all levels of staff. Each store will receive a comprehensive Training Manual that covers all management and staff procedures—from opening to closing—plus information on financial reporting, accounting, inventory, and human resource management. A typical training lasts 15 days.
MARKETING: We will provide each franchise partner with a marketing strategy and guidance for successful implementation. Mr. Pretzel®s franchise partners have access to proven marketing and promotional materials, including point-of-purchase displays, merchandising displays, and any new materials we may create. We will also assist you with grand opening support, successful new product rollouts and other sales-building initiatives.
THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TEAM continually explores new product ideas. After each new recipe is customer-tested and approved, it is made available to our franchise partners. |
