Del Taco is
a 24-hour quick-service concept with both Mexican and American favorites,
all prepared to-order. The brand has enjoyed 15 straight years of
positive same-store sales growth! Not
months
not quarters
15 years of continuous growth in average
unit volumes.
Del Taco's owners actually work full time leading the company with a combined 100+ years of experience in the industry. The company owns 60% of the system, meaning we're restaurant operators first not just in the business of selling franchises. And we are not beholden to outside interests there's no outside board, no outside shareholders and very little debt.
Del Taco began in 1964 in Barstow, California. The founder, Ed Hackbarth, is still in the business today, but now as one of our biggest franchisees!
Today there are over 450 restaurants in 14 states over 270 owned by the company in western markets and the remaining 180+ owned by franchisees.
Since the beginning, Del Taco has offered freshly prepared Tacos, Burritos and other Mexican specialties alongside classic American favorites: Crinkle-Cut French Fries, Shakes and Double-Del Cheeseburgers featuring fresh ground beef, cooked-to-order.
New items are periodically introduced such as our authentic Tacos Del Carbon in 2003 and this year Crispy Fish Tacos and Carne Asada Steak Tacos!
Candidates must have the wherewithal to develop full-size, free-standing, drive-through units in A sites / A trade areas. That means a net worth of at least $1.5 Million and $300,000 unencumbered liquidity.
Candidates must have significant, relevant experience in the management of restaurant operations, ideally multi-unit supervision experience. The noted experience requirements may also be satisfied by an Operations Partner with equity interest in the franchise.
Candidates must focus on operating Del Taco restaurants, not on developing real estate. While it is always desirable to have purchased real estate, Del Taco must seize upon the best sites available, whether for sale or lease.

Candidates who would pass on a deal because the land is not available for purchase are not approvable for Del Taco. We are in the restaurant business and we only want franchisees who are in the restaurant business first and foremost. |
